Senior Reporting Accountant at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust

The post holder will be responsible for the calculation, reconciliation, and reporting of all patient care income. This is wide ranging covering a mix of block contracts, cost per case and pass-through charges alongside financial performance measures. The role is complex and will require the post holder to triangulate and reconcile various sources of information to ensure the Trusts accounts are timely and accurate and that all opportunities to invest in services are maximised

The post holder will act as a subject matter expert in relation to national guidance relating to patient care income for Mental Health, learning disability and autism services.

As a senior accountant the postholder will support the Head of Internal Reporting to provide a comprehensive budgetary control, financial planning, and advisory service to the Networks.

• Develop and maintain a detailed contract finance schedules for all patient care income ensuring that all contract variations are: – o priced according to the Trusts costing and pricing policy o accurately recorded in the Trusts contract income management system
• Responsible for calculating all income due from patient care activities and reporting this in a timely manner, this will include assessing the financial implications of performance against contract targets such as CQUIN, pass though costs etc.
• Reconcile block cash payments to the agreed contract values investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
• Supported by the Network business partners maintain a detailed oversight of expenditure against all new investment decisions in year, ensuring performance is accurately transacted in the monthly accounts and is reported regularly both internally and externally
• Responsible for updating the Trusts contract income management system in a timely manner thus maintaining a detailed audit trail of all contracted patient care income by service line.
• Maintain a sound working knowledge on national guidance relating to contract income to ensure that all income due is recovered; make recommendations for changes to Trusts system and process that may be required to mitigate any risk that may arise from changes in the guidance, for example to interpret national NHS revenue and contracting guidance and identify any implications for the annual planning process.

The Senior Reporting Accountant will be responsible for the calculation, reconciliation and reporting of all Patient Care Income, this will be a complex role requiring the triangulation and reconciliation of various sources of information and ensuring the accurate recording and reporting of Patient Care Income for the Trust, this would include maintaining the Trust’s contract income management system in a timely manner to maintain an audit of the contracted Patient Care Income by Service Line.
