Full job description

Job title: Assistant Project Accountant

Location: Warton/Samlesbury

Salary: £39,315+ (dependent on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist in timely production of insights, analysis, and business intelligence to drive performance. Support efficient working capital cycle for projects
  • Assist in delivering accurate and timely month-end management reporting, including project reporting outputs and insightful analysis of in-year financial performance
  • Assist project teams on whole life of projects, including initial setup, forecasting, trading, reporting and analysis, and closure
  • Operate robust and effective financial controls in line with Financial Control Framework and Finance Policies manual. Support external and internal audit as required
  • Contribute towards identifying and delivering improvements to processes within Project Finance. Support ongoing Finance Modernisation activity, in particular digital reporting improvements
  • Contribute towards system improvements and embrace change towards a data-centric and digital culture

Your skills and experiences:
Essential

  • CIMA, ACA or ACCA – Commenced Study/Part Qualified
  • Project Accounting experience and/or experience within a Finance role
  • Microsoft Office skills including Excel (competent)

Desirable

  • Experience or prior exposure to IBM Cognos TM1, Baan or SAP experience would be beneficial

The Air Europe and International team:
Air E&I (Europe & International) is responsible for the delivery of our European & International commitments for Typhoon, Tornado and Hawk, including production aircraft, aircraft capability, and through life support

Reporting to your line leader, you will be responsible for providing Project Accounting support to teams across the E&I portfolio, which covers a variety of interesting Contracts, ranging in size, complexity and value. You will be part of an Integrated Project Team, working alongside Commercial, Project Management and in some cases Operations and Procurement adding value to your Project and BAE Systems as a whole
