As a crucial part of our service, our Accountancy team has the opportunity to demonstrate expertise, build strong relationships with inspiring small business clients, and learn from a group of specialist Accountancy professionals with ever-evolving shared knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, send, and submit accounts & tax returns for clients, including Sole Traders, Partnerships, and Limited Companies.
- Communicate with clients via phone, email, and in person, including record chasing.
- Support Client Managers and onboard new clients, integrating them into their portfolios through bookkeeping and compliance tasks.
- Complete, review, and prepare bookkeeping, VAT returns, and CIS.
- Maintain electronic filing of books and records internally and handle client administration and records.
- Act as a liaison between clients and HM Revenue & Customs to resolve queries.
- Support the smooth running of the office environment.
- Manage professional development and learning, including relevant CPD required by your professional body.
- Ensure accurate HMRC/Companies House statutory information.
- Attend networking events when required.
- Participate and contribute to year-end client meetings.
- Participate in internal and external training, including client bookkeeping training.
General Duties:
- Attend necessary training and development in agreement with the line manager.
- Willingly undertake any other tasks as reasonably requested by line managers and comply with all employee policies and procedures.
Person Specification:
Relevant Experience:
- Experience in a fast-paced accountancy practice with a varied caseload of clients, supported by membership to a professional body.
- Ability to prepare accounts & tax returns for clients, including Sole Traders, Partnerships, and Limited Companies.
- Experience using Xero, Quickbooks, DEXT, and Free Agent (highly desirable but not essential).
- Sound understanding and working knowledge of Tax.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Effective time management, working to tight deadlines without compromising attention to detail.
- Confident in providing advice and recommendations to clients, communicating complex information effectively.
- Proactively seeks information from colleagues and clients to expand knowledge.
