Who we are:

Blackpool Football Club is an English professional association Football Club based in the seaside town of Blackpool, Lancashire.

The Club was founded in 1887 and has a very storied history, from being a founding member of the Lancashire League in 1889, rising to the Top-Flight of the Football League (the old First Division) in 1930, to winning the FA Cup in 1953 and being promoted to the Premier League in 2010 (becoming the first club to gain promotion from every division of the Football League via the play-off system.)

The team are competing in League One, the third tier of the English Football League.

The Club have played their home games at Bloomfield Road since 1901.

About the role:

Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, working within a small team, you will be responsible for leading the production of management accounts while owning the banking, procurement, and sales invoice side of the business.

As the Bookkeeper, you will support Blackpool Football Club and Blackpool Football Club Hotel and the wider business in all matters of Accounting.

The position is part-time, with working hours being flexible around the needs of the Club.

You will be expected to undertake any specific training or Continued Professional Development to maintain your up-to-date knowledge and qualifications, and / or as organised by the Club.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist the Finance Function in the production and processing of financial data.
  • Assist with the preparation of month end and year end financials for BFC Group.
  • Assist in cash control and banking processes.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate accounting ledgers, matching purchase invoices as appropriate and raising sales invoices as needed.
  • Assisting in the monthly payroll process for BFC as required.
  • Assist in the management and distribution of petty cash.
  • Assist in EFL in the production and submission of sporting submissions, as required.
  • Assist with the annual audit process as required.
  • Organising and processing payment runs.
  • Assisting in reporting to external bodies including HMRC and ONS.
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by the Head of Finance & Operations

Qualifications

  • AAT Level 3.
  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA or QBE qualified.
  • Standard grades in English and Maths (as a minimum.)

Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of working under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Understanding of double entry bookkeeping.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Excel.
  • A good working knowledge of accounting software such as Xero.
  • Able to communicate to the highest level, listens, interprets and conveys information in a clear and accurate manner, provides timely delivery of information and selects the most appropriate method of communication.
  • Be willing to learn and take on additional responsibilities subsequent to progression.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of Zahara.
