Full job description

The Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring that all financial transactions are appropriately and accurately recorded in the Group’s accounting system as well as a range of external and internal reporting requirements.

It is a busy role that requires a person who is efficient and organised and has proven experience working in accounts.

Key Accountabilities

– Ensuring all invoices, transactions and nominal journals are accurately entered onto accounting system on a timely basis

– Daily bank reconciliations,

– Maintaining debtor and creditor lists, including reconciliation to supplier statements, and producing customer statements

– Monthly nominal ledger and contract reconciliations

– Processing supplier and payroll payments

– Preparing and submitting monthly PAYE and CIS returns,

– Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns

– Administration of company pension and life assurance schemes

– Supporting the Finance Director in preparation of quarterly management accounts

– Supporting the Finance Director in liaising with auditors

– Providing holiday cover for payroll processing

– Monitor accounts email & supplier portals.

– Produce monthly rents invoices for tenants.

– Produce customer invoices.

– Update stock system pricing & liaise with stores person to maintain stock system accuracy.

– Maintaining the companies accounts filing system & advising on disposal of stored documents (6 years+1)

– Annual P11D Class 1A NIC’s.

– Updating the company’s cash books & cash flow forecasts.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

– Experience in bookkeeping or accounting role

– Experience using accounting software, ideally Pegasus Opera

– Good knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Excel

– Ability to work independently without regular supervision

– Strong analytical skills

– Attention to detail

– Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise

– Part qualified (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, AAT) is desirable

– Construction industry experience is desirable

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £33,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
