Employer – Trafford Council

Location – Trafford Town Hall, Talbot Road, Stretford M32 0TH

You will have flexibility in terms of hybrid working at home and in the office

Salary range – Band 12 SCP 45 – 48

Salary – £50,616 – £53,707 pay award pending

Working Pattern – Full Time

Working hours – 36.25 per week

About the Role

Trafford’s Financial Management team has a record of providing high quality and effective financial support to an ambitious, forward-thinking council with a dynamic and customer-focused culture with strong ambitions for growth. We are at the leading edge of transformation and innovation and have started our journey on a major investment and regeneration programme.

Due to internal promotion, we have an opportunity for 2 highly motivated, inspirational and dynamic qualified accountants to join us and undertake the role of Finance Manager (1 for Adults and Wellbeing and 1 for Children and Schools).

These senior posts are part of a wider corporate financial management team, with personally responsibility for managing a professional team to deliver the financial targets and best financial outcomes for the Council into the medium and longer term.

Each Finance Manager will have particular emphasis in supporting either the Adults & Wellbeing or Children’s & School Directorates. You will need the financial expertise to provide high quality, timely, accurate financial information, advice and guidance that will contribute to the effectiveness of the decision making process.

About you

As a CCAB qualified accountant, you should have a proven track record in financial management with experience of leading a finance function in a public sector organisation.

You will have experience of working in and understand the financial arrangements of local government, the preparation of year end statutory and management accounts and also the governance and political context.

You will need the financial expertise to provide high quality, timely, accurate financial information, advice and guidance that will contribute to the effectiveness of the decision making process.

Experience in working in Adults and/or Children and Schools finance would be advantageous.

You will be comfortable in supporting the strategic leadership of the Council and liaising with chief officers in partner organisations. However, you will also be able to operate at the granular level of detail as work requires, working autonomously and with others as necessary to get the job done.

A strategic leader, you will have you will have excellent communication skills and be a flexible team player and proactive problem solver. Being enthusiastic about working hard for Trafford to make a positive difference for our residents is essential.
