Full job description

This position does not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’s Points Based System. Therefore, KMC will not be able to sponsor individuals who require permission to work to carry out this position.

Kingston Maurward is an established land-based education provider looking for Teaching Assistants to support our learners with theory and practical learning. The ideal candidates need to have previous experience and confidence working with young adults age 16 +, particularly those who may exhibit challenging behaviours.

We are a land-based college and our learners undertake practical sessions as well as classroom-based theory learning. You will need to have an adaptable approach to assist with activities outside of the classroom such as working with Animals, on a construction site, in the blacksmithing workshop, in the gardens or joining outdoor education during a fitness session. Experience or an interest with animals, floristry, construction, agriculture, horticulture or outdoor education is desirable but not essential.

Hours: 12 – 30-hour contracts available per week to cover Monday to Friday with flexibility to meet business needs.

Salary: The salary for a full working year will be £12,816.60 per annum for term time only 30 hours per week contract (£20,048.08 per annum pro rata). For contracts less than 30 hours the salary will be calculated upon appointment.

Term-time only contracts typically run from 1st September – 31stAugust. Since you will be joining us after this date your salary for the year will be calculated once HR have received all of your clearances and can issue you a start date. We can then calculate how many working and paid weeks you are entitled to for this academic year and your salary.

Job Purpose: Providing support under the guidance of the teacher to students in classrooms, workshops and other vocational settings and support students in the Learning Resource Centre to support teaching and learning.

Status: Permanent and Term Time only.

For a full academic year this will be a term-time only appointment for 36 working weeks. Payment is for 41 weeks and includes 5 weeks’ annual leave. The working and paid weeks for starting part-way through the year will be calculated once HR can issue a start date.
