Therapy Assistants work with healthcare professionals like Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. They deliver care, support, and treatment to patients to help them recover from illness and operations, make adjustments to day-to-day tasks and activities, and regain their mobility and independence.

Day-to-day you’ll help to assist Physio and Occupational Therapists to assess patients needs and movement, move and handle patients between locations, and deliver various physiotherapy and exercise sessions to help with their treatment and recovery.

SPINAL INJURIES 31 hours

Working from ourPrincess Royal Spinal Injuries Unitat the Northern General Hospital, you’ll help to care and support patients with life-changing spinal cord injuries and conditions. The Centre provides specialist treatment and rehabilitation to patients with different needs and stages of recovery, with amazing facilities like a wood workshop, therapy kitchen, sports hall, hydrotherapy swimming pool, and state-of-the-art treatment and assessment rooms to support them in their recovery.

This is a highly rewarding role where you’ll play an important part in patients’ recovery and wellbeing.

Day-to-day, you’ll assist other therapy staff to assess patients and deliver treatments, including supporting one-to-one and group sessions, as well as a range of exercise classes, kitchen and workshop classes, and hydrotherapy sessions in the pool – meaning you’ll need to be able to swim to apply. You’ll also help to move and handle patients between locations and sessions, help them with their meals, and other day-to-day tasks.

ACUTE STROKE UNIT 37.5 hours

Working from our Acute Stroke Unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, you’ll help to care for people recovering from a stroke and help support them to regain movement and independence. There’s lots of variety to the role, and you’ll be working with patients with different mobility and stages of recovery.
