Our Team

You’ll report directly to the Head of Strategy & Corporate Development and will help drive the strategic choices that will shape the future of Virgin Money. At the heart of this role is simple, clear, strategic thinking. The team has responsibility for advising the company’s leadership and Board on the big questions they face. We pride ourselves on being non-hierarchical and you will have direct access to our leadership team. This in turn provides for strong growth opportunities for the individual, both within the team and across the wider organisation. You’ll have the opportunity to create tangible and long-lasting impact for the organisation.

What you’ll be doing

Supporting the development and evaluation of the Bank’s inorganic growth strategy including assessment of the bank’s competitive landscape.

Identifying and analysing potential M&A and JV/partnership opportunities.

Engaging with key internalstakeholders on transaction implications including commercial, accounting, capital, funding / liquidity, credit risk, etc.

Financial modelling of potential opportunities including valuation and assessment of financial and capital impacts.

Supporting senior leaders on relevant deal negotiations and execution, including due diligence activities.

Liaising with external advisors (e.g. investment banks, consulting firms, accountancy firms, lawyers) and corporate brokers.

We need you to have

A strong professional track record with experience from a leading investment bank or Big 4 transaction advisory firm or equivalent experience.

Previous M&A experience.

A passion for numbers with strong financial modelling skills (relative valuation, discounted cash flows, pro forma financial impacts, etc.).

Strong attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability to analyse business drivers.

Solid verbal and written communication, with previous exposure to senior audiences and the ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Experienced user of Microsoft Office packages, with strong skills in PowerPoint and Excel in particular.

It’s a bonus if you have (but not essential)

ACCA (or similar) advanced qualifications.

If you’re successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting.
