About the Role

1

As the Assistant Operations Manager, you will work closely with the operational Community Safety managers and teams. The role is varied, reflecting the University of Warwick’s breadth of activities. The department supports all other departments to provide a safe place for study, work, socialising and living. This role liaises with numerous internal and external stakeholders who occupy or visit the University’s beautiful 750-acre campus every year, from around the world.

This role is currently being assessed for DBS, and a check may be required.

About You

1

You will need to have excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals and groups from all backgrounds and activities.

The diverse University Community is reflected in the students, staff, and visitors from circa 150 countries.

The operational teams work a ‘4 on, 4 off’, 12-hour shift pattern that consists of two days and two nights, providing a physical presence on the campus, and as a communications centre for staff, students, families, and external agencies. You will be instrumental in the oversight of the technological systems that support this operation, working with university departments and third-party providers. This ‘security systems’ aspect of the role is critical to the effective functioning of the department.

Your working hours will be predominantly Monday to Friday, with occasional evening or weekend duties to support the operational team with specific events. You will oversee the events activities of the University and Students’ Union, in conjunction with colleagues from various departments. You will manage a small team of administrators who support the department and provide a reception service at University House.

There is an “on-call” arrangement every one week in three, shared with the Operations Manager and Head of Community Safety and Security, with flexibility to work around each other’s personal commitments. This attracts a further allowance of £3500 per annum on top of the salary.

We offer an excellent salary that reflects the challenging nature of the role and the professionalism we expect from this post holder. The salary starts at £33,966.00 up to £44,263.00, in annual increments. There is an excellent pension scheme and generous annual leave allocation.
