Big Local Eastern Sheppey (BLES) is a resident-led community project, funded by Local Trust. We exist to connect with residents and local partners on our shared vision for Eastern Sheppey in 2026 to be a clean, safe, attractive environment known for its natural beauty with residents proud to call it home.
This is an exciting opportunity with full training and support provided. The Community Project Assistant will work closely with the Project Coordinator to deliver our community plan. This is a public-facing role, liaising with local residents and assisting with running activities that benefit a range of demographics, helping to build skills, raise aspirations and improve health & wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Project Coordinator with setting up and running events and activities within the Community Hub. This may include supporting the running of activities.
Facilitating access to the Community Hub – unlocking and securing the building.
Assist with capturing good news stories, event attendance numbers and data relating to activity participation
Assist with regular communications to the local community, including the website, social media pages and producing a bi-yearly Newsletter.
Act as an ambassador to promote awareness of the BLES volunteer strategy
Participate in generating ideas to help BLES continuously evolve and improve.
Take meeting minutes when required.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience working within a community or customer service environment would be advantageous.
Willingness to be flexible.
Comfortable with lone working when required.
Confident and approachable to people of all ages, cultures and ethnicities
