About the role
Based in Tilbury, you will be working from a rota likely to be on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern with overtime available. The Sailing Controller will directly report and work closely with the Tilbury Operations Supervisor to help manage and utilise capacity for the routes.
You will be responsible for:
Communicate and manage delays, cancellations, and schedule changes.
Deal with hazardous cargo, paperwork, and stowage.
Ensure accuracy of data captured at point of check-in.
Ensure accuracy of the shipping manifest.
Investigate discrepancies before finalising a shipping manifest and correct in consultation with the Tilbury Operations Supervisor.
Compile the “voyage envelope” according to the MCA requirement and company policy.
Ensure that various statistics are correctly completed and passed on to the relevant parties and agencies in a timely fashion.
About you
You will need extensive knowledge and capacity management alongside knowledge of freight bookings and check in functionalities on our in house system Phoenix. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of MCA requirements for compiling shipping manifests as well as proficiency in UK & EU customs formalities.
