We are seeking a Financial Controller to join our Finance team based in Basingstoke. The Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day running and ownership of the finance function, ensuring transactions are captured on a timely and accurate basis. The role holder will deliver financial results to the wider business and assist with the preparation of financial packs, providing key insights for decision making.

The role will report to the Finance Director and have line management responsibility for our Accounts Assistant. The Financial Controller’s responsibilities will include –

  • Ownership of both the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable function.
  • Responsible for the financial processes regarding expenses and working capital
  • Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations resolving any discrepancies promptly
  • Responsibility and ownership of the month end process, ensuring transactions are appropriately recorded
  • Responsibility and ownership of business forecasting on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Supporting the year-end audit, Research and Development Expenditure Credit (RDEC) and statutory accounts preparation
  • Checking VAT returns and reconciliation of VAT accounts.
  • Partnering with the Business to support the continuous improvement of processes and strategic growth.

The successful candidate will be-

  • Proficient working confidently with Excel (INDEX MATCH, SUMIFS, IF AND, CELL RIGHT LEFT)
  • A qualified accountant combining FRS 102 and business experience at a similar level
  • Able to communicate effectively with financial and non-financial colleagues, clients and customers
  • Able to apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to make informed decisions
  • Proactive, organised, self-starter and able to work to tight deadlines
  • Able to produce accurate and informative reports
  • Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable to change

The role attracts a competitive salary and bonus scheme alongside a non-contributory company pension, life assurance, employee assistance programme (EAP), cycle to work scheme and a nine-day fortnight. The role will be based in our Basingstoke office and currently includes the flexible working benefit of a 9 day fortnight working pattern, 25days holiday and a 8% non contributory pension.

Salary: £62,500.00-£67,500.00 per year
