Full job description
We are on a mission to power the data productivity of our customers and the world, by helping teams get data business ready, faster. Our technology allows customers to load, transform, sync and orchestrate their data.
We are looking for passionate, high-integrity individuals to help us scale up our growing business. Together, we can make a dent in the universe bigger than ourselves.
We are now looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our Finance team.
Reporting to our Chief Accounting Officer, the Financial Controller will lead a small team responsible for the delivery of the core accounting function. As Matillion continues to grow and change, our Finance function is maturing rapidly. This role is an excellent opportunity to play a key part in building and further developing this, working closely with our Chief Accounting Officer to do so.
You’ll be a confident self-starter with broad Finance experience, able to work with ambiguity, build effective relationships quickly and lead through change. We need someone with experience in both IFRS and GAAP and if you also have experience in a similar consumption-based SAAS business, this would be a significant advantage.
We value in-person collaboration here at Matillion and our preference would be for someone who can follow our hybrid work structure where Matillioners work 2 days a week in our Manchester (UK) office.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Responsible for the integrity and robustness of our core accounting records and drive process improvements for Matillion’s financial close process to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
Lead monthly close and reporting for management and investors.
Own all accounting policies and controls; ensure that accounting policies are well understood and partner with leaders across the organisation to reinforce and operationalise the policies.
Line management of 1 direct and 4 indirect reports, setting objectives, providing direction, mentoring and other support.
Manage technical accounting/treasury/tax matters in conjunction with the CAO.
Lead on annual audit as well as other special projects and assignments as required, and take a leading role in any M&A activity.
What We’re Looking For:
Accountancy qualification or equivalent combined education and work experience (CPA or ACA required)
15+ years Accounting experience, ideally in a fast paced, rapid growth environment (and ideally experience in a SAAS business) and with experience in both IFRS and GAAP
Prior experience using an ERP (ideally Oracle/Netsuite)
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Alignment with Matillion’s core values, comfort with ambiguity, and someone who enjoys building and likes to be hands-on.
At Matillion, we are committed to providing competitive salaries in line with market standards. Our estimated base compensation range for this position is £100,000 – £135,000. This role is eligible for participation in our corporate bonus plan. The final salary will be based on the relevant skills and experience demonstrated in the hiring process.
Matillion has fostered a culture that is collaborative, fast-paced, ambitious, and transparent, and an environment where people genuinely care about their colleagues and communities.
Our 6 core values guide how we work together and with our customers and partners. We operate a truly flexible and hybrid working culture that promotes work-life balance, and are proud to be able to offer the following benefits:
- Company Equity
- 30 days holiday + bank holidays
- 5 days paid volunteering leave
- Health insurance
- Life Insurance
- Pension
- Access to mental health support
- Career development with access to a Udemy account, Blinkist and much more!
