Job Introduction

Are you a visionary leader looking to make a significant impact in Adult Social Care? At Surrey County Council we are looking for an Assistant Director of Safeguarding, DOLS and Quality Assurance whose expertise will shape the future of our services and ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.

Collaborating closely with our Senior Leadership Team, you will help us prepare for rigorous CQC inspections and direct and drive our efforts in safeguarding, ensuring full compliance with national statutes, regulations, and guidance.

In this pivotal role you will also work together with the Principal Social Worker to develop the work of our Safeguarding advisors, and contribute to practice improvement and development, as well as forging seamless communication and collaboration between our Adult’s and Children’s services.

You will be expected to actively engage with key stakeholders, in particular the Surrey Safeguarding Adults Board and Surrey Safeguarding Children’s Partnership Board. You will also engage with residents, client representatives, carers – as well as collaborate with other Council Directorates and external partners, including assuming leadership of vital networks and boards across our local system, thus enabling greater integration.

Your role as Assistant Director of Safeguarding, DOLS and Quality Assurance will also extend to crafting the Council’s strategic approach to service delivery and business enhancement as well as orchestrating policies, operational plans, and providing expert professional guidance. Your leadership will instil a culture of standards, performance and accountability, bring transformational change, embed innovative practices, and foster seamless internal and external collaboration. You will manage budgets effectively, champion equality of opportunity, and promote diversity and inclusivity.
