Overview of an Internal Auditor
Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Internal Auditor to join an expanding team. The role of an Internal Auditor has a competitive pay rate of £ 19.91 – £21.43 per hour, increasing in line with Harrow Council Pay Scale increments. Other benefits include, accruing up to 28 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays) and the opportunity to apply for any internal permanent roles within Harrow Council.
The Main Purpose of an Internal Auditor:
Assist in formulating the annual operational audit plan by identifying areas for review based on accumulated audit knowledge and risks identified by client departments.
Contribute to the achievement of the annual operational plan by undertaking risk-based systems reviews across the full range of Council services in accordance with the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards (PSIAS) and Harrow’s Internal Audit section’s performance standards and quality requirements.
Contribute to the production of the year-end and mid-year reports to the Audit Committee.
Undertake the daily planning, monitoring and control of all audit reviews allocated to you ensuring that the agreed objective and scope are met.
About you, the successful will have:
CIPFA Auditing Standards
Systems based/risk-based auditing
Experience of providing professional advice to clients on control, risk, governance issues and the investigation of suspected financial irregularities
Ability to be assertive and work on own initiative
Must have 3 years’ experience in a similar role working in a school or local authority
